The Allegheny Refrigeration installation crew completed a combination walk-in cooler/freezer box at Allard Elementary School located in Moon Township, PA. This unit was manufactured by TAFCO, one of the premier walk-in refrigeration partners that we work with regularly.
This box serves the school's main cafeteria. The unit features a 6' x 8' walk in cooler section as well as a 12' x 8' freezer section. The cooler section is located at the entryway to the walk-in, with the freezer section located directly behind. This configurationa allows for easy access to milk and other perishables stored in the cooler, along with ample freezer room for other items with more longevity.
This unit is located outside of the building, flush to the wall of the kitchen area. Placing the walk-in outdoors saves valuable kitchen space and allows for easy maintenance and loading. Condensing units were placed on the roof of the school in order to keep them safely out of reach of children. Accessories on this walk-in included an interior tread ramp, a sloped mebrane roof, and diamond tread kickplates around the exterior walls. These diamond tread plates are ideal for outdoor units located in areas of high-foot traffic, as they provide durability and protection for the unit.
